The 5 layers of the epidermis from superficial to deep are... 1. Stratum Corneum- The outer most layer of the epidermis. It is very thin, about only 25 cells deep. The cells are dead, dried and, full of keratin. 2. Stratum Lucidum- This layer is only found in the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. It has 1-2 layers of flat transparent cells. 3. Stratum Granulosum- 2-3 Layers of cells that are flattened and non-living. 4. Stratum Spinosum- This layer is just above the stratum basale and is made up of many layers of spiny shaped cells. 5. Stratum Basale- This is the deepest layer of the epidermis that lays directly on the basement membrane. It is made of keritinocytes and the cells are living and constantly undergoing mitosis, reproduction.
